Nice photo Alec - looks like it could be deep in the tropical rain forest rather than Birmingham. Botanical gardens in cities are a smart idea. Sheffield has two huge covered gardens (massive greenhouses really). They were built during Sheffields renovation. Sort of thing Stoke On Trent could learn from.
Here's another photo I took in the Botanic Gardens in Birmingham in December, when they opened for a few evenings.
